The Procedure Matcher tool produces a preliminary candidacy estimate based on FDA-approved diopter ranges and published candidacy thresholds. It is a screen, not a decision.

Final candidacy needs an exam

Eligibility for any refractive procedure is determined by a board-certified ophthalmologist using in-person measurements: corneal topography (shape), pachymetry (thickness), biometry (axial length and lens position), pupil sizing under mesopic conditions, refraction stability over time, dry-eye screening, and a review of medical history. The Matcher cannot do any of this.

No clinic sponsorship, no referral fees

We do not accept payment from clinics, surgery centers, or device manufacturers in exchange for editorial placement or recommendation. We do not collect referral commissions from consultations booked elsewhere. We do not sell user data.

Sources and limits

Every numeric claim cites a primary source (PubMed PMID, FDA approval letter, or AAO Preferred Practice Pattern). Where peer-reviewed data is thin or evolving, we say so. Where adversarial verification refuted a common marketing claim, we name the refuted claim.
